The Book of Wanderings
Chapter One
1. In the days following the great gathering the followers of Khoreg did leave
their encampment and wander.
2. In their wandering they did face many tribulations and trials that affirmed
their faith in Khoreg.
3. In the first days of sojourn in the wilderness the soldiery did complain
mightily of hardship and a lack of ale.
4. The Lord Khoreg appeared unto the prophet Echias, saying “Take unto thyselves
the fruit of the vine and the yeast of the brewer that you may prepare the elixir
of the Lord.”
5. When Echias told the people they rejoiced and the craft of brewing was declared
an honour to Khoreg.
6. Echias was revered by the throng and a great celebration was held by all
Khoreg's followers.
7. It was evening and then it was morning next day.
8. The wandering tribes did lament to the lord, saying , “Why Oh Lord Khoreg
are we afflicted so?”
9. A strange glaze was over the eyes of Echias the prophet and he spake the
word of Khoreg.
10. “Khoreg thy lord has sent this affliction to test you and thus he has written
in the great book that pain is good for the soul.”
11. The people did understand this and were satisfied.
12. Thus the Lord Khoreg has taught that nothing worthwhile comes without suffering
at least a little.
Chapter Two
1. The true of faith did wander in the wilderness for many years and it
came to pass that Echias did die.
2. The people lamented over the death of a true prophet and the women did wail
and weep.
3. The Lord Khoreg did appear to the warriors of the wanderers and in a slurred
voice did say, “Thou should not weep for Echias, for one thing he died in his
sleep, not an honourable way to die.”
4. “Hear me. Oh children of the wilderness, you are not to fear death, for in
death you may join my eternal congregation, for death is no excuse.”
Chapter Three
1. And the children of the wilderness did wander and in their wandering they
did come across a tribe of barbarians.
2. A godless people who had no honour.
3. The people of Khoreg looked down on them and saw in them a taint of chaos.
4. Khoreg lifted his peoples’ hearts in joyous praise of the battle to come.
5. On the night before the battle, a warrior known as Ibris the Loud did stand
before his brothers in arms.
6. In his right hand there was a sword and in his left there was a tankard.
7. His voice rose in praise of victory and in praise of Khoreg.
8. He quaffed mightily and he said, “Khoreg has entered my body and given me
a message for thee.”
9. “Take up thy ploughshares, sparing only those for the hop and the vine, and
beat them into blades and bludgeons.”
10. “The Lord Khoreg is with thee in thy fight against chaos and will be thy
strong right arm.”
11. Some scoffed at the words of Ibris and declared him a drunkard,
12. Those travellers who were true followers of the faith took up weapons and
rejoiced.
13. Those of faint heart declared that to take up staves of wood in war was
an abomination: they shall be known as the No-stics.
14. Suffer not a No-stic to dwell among you unless he be a maker of strong drink.
15. The true followers of the word took up their unwanted household utensils
and affixed them to poles.
16. Ibris spake again, saying, “The Lord Khoreg is pleased with your efforts
and thou art to go forth and show the world your arms that they may be the symbol
of your faith.”
17. And the warriors rejoiced and fell upon the barbarians with a holy vigour.
18. Many accursed lives were taken that day and the Lord blessed the axe, the
spear and the hook that spread his glory in the land.
19. From that day forth Ibris was declared the first priest of Khoreg and he
took to himself the halberd as a symbol of the true faith.
Chapter Four
1. In the days of the wanderings the elder warriors did wonder as to the scheme
of things.
2. And in dreams and visions Khoreg appeared to them and spake the same message
to all.
3. “Hear me and heed well, for I am your Lord and you will bloody well do as
you are told.”
4. 'The followers of chaos are rife in this land and you will take up arms against
them.'
5. “And you shall pour libations to me your god, for I relish all manner of
strong drink.”
6. “And you will elevate my priests to positions of responsibility but never
forget that they serve my people as well as my faith.”
7. “All those who practice skill at arms in my name are blessed and those who
swear to forsake all others in my name are to be called holy knights.”
8. Hearing these words, the warriors rose up and rejoiced.
9. One warrior, known to the people as Heinrich, cried, “I will kill in the
name of the Lord Khoreg, the world will know our might.”
10. Ibris, Khoreg's first priest, declared Heinrich a Knight Spiritual and the
Brotherhood of the Sword was born.
11. Heinrich declared to the people that from that day the Brotherhood of the
Sword would uphold the laws of Khoreg, they would honour the righteous and punish
wrongdoing.
12. All those swearing to the Brotherhood gave an oath to the people but also
swore to the church of Khoreg, that they were of good heart and strong of right
arm.
13. The wanderers saw in them their redemption and gave to them the banner of
the Raven to march below.
14. From that day the Brotherhood of the Sword defended the wandering people
and were entrusted with their care.
Chapter Five
1. After many years, in a great battle Heinrich was beset by three score foes
and was slain.
2. But his last cry was, “Death is no excuse” and though life was gone he cut
down his foes.
3. So great was his force of will that he returned and feasted beside the living.
4. And he marched to battle again for seven years until his body was destroyed
by fire.
5. But his spirit fought on, bringing fear to the foe, until, weary at last,
he passed on to serve Khoreg until time ends.
KHOREGATE THE WORLD!!
